Preschool Kid's Night Out

On Friday night I hosted a Kid's Night out or date night for parents at preschool. Chris volunteered (was persuaded) to help me. :) We had 10 kids counting Braden and Ethan and it was such a sweet group. The boys had a ball.

The craft we made...found it on pinterest! Gotta love it!

We got the hermit crab out and made him a little home so he couldnt' climb out. Braden thought we should show him our hermit crab book so he could know all about himself. Ha! I thought that was pretty good idea. :)

Adrienne's Baking Class

Last year around March we tried a baking class for kids at Adrienne's Cafe in Jeffersonville. It was soooo cute and the kids loved it! So Jenn decided we needed to try it again this year. It was $10 per child which seemed a little pricey until we saw all that they got to do...and eat! They decorated 6 cupcakes (4 minis and 2 large ones), got a double doozie snickerdoodle cookie that they rolled in sprinkles, made banana milkshakes and had some songs and circle time fun. It was really fun and the kids loved "Grammy."

Braden and Carson get ready for the treats...decorating their boxes for take home goodies

Ethan did a pretty good job with the songs and movements Grammy had the kids do inbetween treats.

Yum...decorating the cupcakes

Of course Ethan didn't get too much decorating done before he had to taste test :)

Looks delicious Braden!

Braden and Carson approve!!

Little chefs working hard

Rolling the huge snickerdoodle cookies in sprinkles while drinking a banana milkshake. wow!

They even got medals for being good "cooks. " So so cute!!

Catching up

Here are some odds and ends from around our house lately. It sure is a crazy house with two boys but it is very entertaining. :) We are so blessed!!

One day last weekend we were home for most of the day so we just decided to put Ethan in some underwear and see what happened. With Braden I did the 3 day boot camp where we stayed home all day and only worked on potty training. Sadly enough, I feel like these days we don't have 3 days to stay home (poor second child ) so I told Chris maybe we should just work on it here and there when we can and see what happens. I pumped him with yummy drinks and he watched Barney while on the potty. He actually pottied twice and pottied in his undies ones. I don't think he cared either way. ha! We cheered for him and he got mad...or embarrassed and asked us to stop.
I cannot get over new undie booties!!! I remember thinking Braden's tush looked too cute when he first wore a pair of underwear...it's just so cute and different than that bulky diaper. Well not only do I think Ethan's tush is cute, but I can't get over the chunkiness of his legs. Crack me up!!!! Look at these two side by side. I love it!

Ethan's favorite towel is this frog towel. After his bath, he does not want to get his pj's on and instead ribbits all over the house. :)

Funny boy!

Our church started "The Story" which is a book by Max Lucado that tells the bible as a chronological story. I am loving it!! Chris and I are learning so much! I remember so many bible stories from when I was a kid in Sunday school but they're all missing pieces and connections in my mind. Now I get to read each story in order and really see how Jesus' lineage traces back to the beginning with Adam and Eve. So cool! The children's classes at church are also doing the kids' version of the story so Braden and I have been reading it each night. He loves it too! It's crazy how much they soak up at this age. :) Of course I hope and pray that my boys will grow up learning much about God, His love and how to be a good servant of Christ. We're trying. :)

Other randomness....they still love to dress up! Now Ethan is into it too. They always say "take my picture" and then pose. :)

And just tonight....Ethan loves to keep Braden company when he's on the pot. ha!!! He doesn't actually go but sits there with him. Oh you boys...wait until your future wives see these pictures!

Snow Play

The Tractor Pull

Chris was given free tickets to the tractor pull a couple of months ago so he and Braden have been planning to go for awhile now. Since we are not a big faming, tractor loving family, they didn't really know what to expect....like that ear plugs are a must!!! Chris said it was the loudest place you could ever imagine!!!!! Like so loud you had to absoutely hold your ears the whole time. They had some yummy snacks, had some fun Braden/Daddy bonding time, but I can't say that they loved the show a ton. ha! Chris said they were both kind of bored after 30 minutes. ha! Oh well....it was an experience and with the stands packed at $40ish a ticket, some people do love it...just not my boys I guess. :)

Valentine's Day

We had a fabulous Valentine's Day...and week really! :) Chris and I had our Valentine's night on Monday the 13th. This is SO funny and SO us so I have to share. I planned something this year and told him it was a surprise. So we got in the car, I drove and we headed into Louisville. I was taking him to Clifton's Pizza...nothing fancy, but where we had our first date 9 years ago. :) We pulled in and guess what? Closed on Mondays! Ha! We were just cracking up! You'd think I would have checked that....but it was funny and so us! So we ended up grabbing dinner nearby at The Irish Rover and it was yummy and greasy-just our style. :)

So back to Valentine's....there was a 2hour delay due to snow which means there is no preschool for us. Chris was home for the delay, we were off and the boys were dying to get in the first snowfall of the year. It was a perfect morning!

( Hold on...Back up a day)...Braden and I made little Valentine treats for his teachers. :)

Valentine morning...since we weren't rushing out the door, Chris got up and went and bought the boys their favorite breakfast food-donuts! Or "Donos" as Ethan says. :)

Time for a few Valentine goodies!

I love watching their reactions...that's the fun part for us moms!

Ethan and Daddy shared his new microphone

Then it was off to get ready for snow! Getting dressed for snow play...now that's a workout! We had two snowsuits from last year...both size 5/6. I knew it would be small on Braden and big on Ethan but we managed to put them both in one and they worked! My 5 and 2 year old in the same size snowsuit. :)
Braden went right to the ground to make a snow angel.

Ethan looked around in amazement for a bit....

Bundled up handsome boys!

Then Chris got out the sled...not many hills around us but they love being pulled on it around the yard. ha!

Ethan loved the snow this year!!

And then it was more fun to fall off!

Time to build "Snowy!"

Ethan helped shovel

Our finished "Snowy."

Back to the sled...then they rode like this! I'm shocked Braden let Ethan ride on him like this. :)

Later that night we had a yummy heart shaped pizza from Papa Murphys and Valentine treats! It was a perfect Valentine's spent with my loves!!

The next day we were back to school and had our Valentine parties. Chris left school for a bit so he could come up and celebrate with Braden. Braden was SOOOO excited he was there. It was pretty cute I must say!!

Preschool Night

Last night the boys got to go to preschool for some fun while Chris and I got to have date night! Jennifer at school offered all the teachers a night out just as a Valentine treat. She's the absolute best!!!! So she had the staff's kiddos from 6-9 at preschool so we could get out on the town. :) Ethan was pumped! He always wants to go to school so he talked about it all day. I packed them a "lunch" (dinner) in their lunchboxes and that might be what they were most excited about. Ethan didn't even know there was food in his or he would have had it opened in the car but whatever it was...this whole lunch box thing, he was so proud to carry his "woody and buzz" lunchbox and his backpack to school. :) Just so big! Chris and I got to go to dinner....alone without kiddos :) and to pie kitchen for dessert. Yummo!

Loving the pj's with rainboots. :)

"Homework"

This weekend the boys did a little Play-doh work at the table which turned more into scissor practice. Ethan was too cute cutting on Chris' lap because he would have to open his mouth every time he opened the scissors. I love when kids do that! I'll have to say he's a pretty good cutter. Braden got in on the action too. Then last night our homework was getting Braden's Valentine's for school filled out. I didn't make him write each kid's name but just sign his name...which was 20 times counting teachers. :) The crazy thing that still baffles me is that we do not know if Braden is right or left handed?!!?!? I know doctors will say it can take till 5 but, uh...he's 5 now and we still don't know! His teachers can't figure it out either. You might think this is no biggie or even kind of cool but I worry because his fine motor control isn't the best because he uses both hands equally. I think if he picked a hand, that hand would get stronger and his writing would improve. He eats left handed 100 % of the time but writes words and colors with both. Sometimes he switches mid way through his name. ?? Any OT's out there? Help! :) Oh well, that boy is a mystery. :)

Love that open mouth!

Star Wars Valentine's of course!
